IPO app for family: apply for everyone in one go

· 2 min read

If you apply to IPOs for your family, you know the routine: open one app, log in as your spouse, apply, log out, log in as your father, apply again, then chase everyone to approve their UPI request before the deadline. An IPO app built for families turns that into one step.

Why apply from more than one family member

In popular IPOs the retail category is usually oversubscribed, and shares are then allotted by lottery — one lot to each lucky applicant. Every valid application is one entry in that lottery, so applying from several family members' accounts gives your household more chances than applying for more lots from one account.

Each person can apply only once per IPO with their PAN. Every family member applies from their own account.

What a good IPO app for families should do

  • Keep every member in one place — add each person once and reuse their details for every IPO.

  • Apply for everyone together — pick an IPO, choose who applies, and submit all the applications in one go.

  • Let you choose per member — the category and number of lots can differ from person to person.

  • Never ask for broker passwords — an IPO application doesn't need your broker login.

  • Show allotment for the whole family — one list instead of checking the registrar's site for each person.

  • Protect the details — family members' information should be stored securely and shared only to place applications.

How it works with Allotly

  1. Sign in with your Google account at www.allotly.in.

  2. Add your family members once.

  3. Pick an open IPO, choose the category and lots for each member, and submit all the applications together.

  4. Each member approves the payment request in their own UPI app before the deadline on the closing day.

  5. Track allotment for every member in one list.

Allotly is free to use and never asks for broker passwords.

Before you apply

  • Make sure each member's UPI ID is linked to a bank account in their own name, with enough balance for the application.

  • Remind everyone to approve their payment request — an unapproved request means the application doesn't count.

  • Apply a day before the issue closes; requests are often slower on the last day.
